Mykonos Travel Information
|
Getting to Mykonos Greece is easy. Due to the fact that it is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world, there are an abundance of Mykonos ferries and flights that depart on a daily basis, even several times a day during high season. At Matt Holidays, we can give you advice and information about how to reach Mykonos, easily and quickly. To travel to Mykonos, you should first decide which means of transportation suits you best... |
By ship
You can book a place on Mykonos ferries or high-speed boats that depart from Piraeus Port (close to Athens) and Rafina Port, which is located on the eastern coast of Attica. The duration of the trip depends on which kind of boat you choose. Conventional ferries to Mykonos (a 5hr to 6hr trip from Piraeus - a 5hr to 6hr trip from Rafina) take longer than the high-speed boats and flying cats (a 3hr to 4hr trip from Piraeus - a 2hr to 2,5hr trip from Rafina), but enable passengers to roam around the deck, sit in the salty breeze, and enjoy the Aegean sun. A cool ocean spray is often welcome during the hot summer days. Of course, all indoor areas of the conventional Mykonos ferries are air-conditioned. Flying cats and high-speed boats offer speedy travel to Mykonos, but restrict passengers to air-conditioned indoor areas. All sea vessels have lounges and bars to pass the time travelling to Mykonos. Simply ask us at Matt Holiday for our assistance with boat ticketing and transport.
By airplane

If you want to do a bit of island hopping, you can book a seat in one of the Mykonos flights and ferries that connect the island with the Cyclades Islands (Naxos, Paros, Tinos, Syros, Andros, and Delos), the Dodecanese Islands (Kos and Rhodes), the NE Aegean Islands (Ikaria and Samos), the Sporades Islands (Skopelos and Skiathos), and Crete. Matt Holidays provides a wonderful selection of Greek Island hopping tours.
We recommend booking your ferries or flights to Mykonos Greece in advance, not only to secure a seat which is booked as fast as wild-fire in the high tourist seasons, but also to get the cheapest airfare possible. The longer you wait, the higher the possibility of not finding a seat or paying a higher fare than you had expected.
